ART: An Innovative Approach to Soft Tissue Injury

The doctors at Terrapin Care Center are skilled in Active Release Technique (ART), a patented treatment for soft tissue injuries. This is a patented, state-of-the-art treatment for injuries to muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves, created by Dr. P. Michael Leahy more than 30 years ago. He combined his expertise in engineering with chiropractic knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics to effectively treat soft tissue disorders.

Many athletes benefit from ART, but it can be used on anyone who can benefit from the techniques rehabilitative treatment. Since ART was first created, more than 10,000 ART providers have been trained in this method, treating more than 100 million people around the world.

We are proud to have Dr. Nicholas DiMichele on staff as a Certified Active Release Technique provider. He is a graduate of Salisbury University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in 2008. He uses a diversified chiropractic technique, holding Basic Certification in Chiropractic Biophysics as well. In addition to being a Certified Active Release Technique provider, he is also a Certified Graston Technique provider and is certified in Dry Needling. His goal is to use these techniques to address musculoskeletal disorders including problems with fascia, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerve entrapments, headaches, and back pain.
