Using the Graston Technique to Improve Mobility and Range of Motion
The doctors at Terrapin Care Center are skilled in the Graston Technique, a type of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that breaks down scar tissue. This innovative, evidence-based form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization allows our pain specialists in Silver Spring MD to detect and break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions, plus it helps to maintain optimal range of motion.
The Graston Technique has been the leading modality in Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) since 1994, helping with acute and chronic conditions including:
- Achilles Tendonitis
- Carpal Tunnel
- Adhesive Capsulitis
- IT Band Syndrome
- Lumbar Strain
- Plantar Fasciitis
Three of our physicians are certified to provide Graston Technique therapy: Dr. Nicholas DiMichele, Dr. Levy Riley, and Dr. Daniel Kraus.
As such, we use our expertise and training to address musculoskeletal disorders including problems with fascia, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerve entrapments, headaches, and back pain.
An interdisciplinary treatment, the Graston Technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to engage in therapeutic exercises and as a diagnostic tool to locate and treat not only the cause of the symptom but the specific area of pain as well. Lean on the expertise and training of our multi-disciplinary medical pain management clinic, focusing on postural correction, alignment, overall health and well-being to help patients of all ages achieve optimal health and wellness while minimizing unnecessary drugs and invasive surgeries.
