Postural Correction

Improve Skeletal Misalignment Through Postural Correction

When your mother told you to “Stand up straight!” she had your long-term health in mind. Poor posture can result in aggravating discomfort, but can also lead to more serious and long-term physical pain and dysfunction. Posture is defined as the relationship of body parts to each other, including the head, trunk, back and limbs. Ideal posture achieves a state of balance that protects the supporting structures of the body against progressive deformity or injury.

Terrapin Care Center focuses on postural correction through postural analysis, chiropractic care and corrective exercises that can improve skeletal misalignment. We use mirror image spinal adjustments and traction, stretching, strengthening exercises and supportive measures to help properly align your musculoskeletal system

As part of our corrective exercise offerings, we teach our patients exercises to help strengthen and correct their own unique problems, many of which can be performed in the comfort of your own home to enhance the effectiveness of your spinal correction. Muscles and connective tissues can also be strained by improper alignment and use. In this case, we can guide you in specific exercises and stretches to keep you balanced and healthy.

Terrapin Care Center is a chiropractic biophysics clinic, which means we can correct posture and demonstrate those changes on x-ray. Plus, we have an anesthesiologist with a pain management fellowship to do interventional spinal procedures. You can feel good about leaving your spinal health up to Dr. Dan Kraus, Doctor of Chiropractic, with his many years of training and experience in spinal adjustments.

In addition to corrective therapies, our pain specialists in Silver Spring MD provide helpful advice on certain activities to avoid further aggravation of your postural problem. We want every one of our patients to achieve a fulfilling and happy lifestyle. It’s our job to treat the patient as a whole person and enable them to achieve true health and wellness. We take our efforts outside the office as well, in an effort to prevent problems before they become bigger ones. Take advantage of our spinal and postural screenings at community events, health fairs and places of employment. We believe such screenings can reveal important health information, leading to improved health and well-being.
